| - Course on Epidemiology and Control of Infectious Diseases ( January 18-22, 2008) |

Emerging infectious diseases and new problems of existing infectious diseases continue to pose threat to the health of Hong Kong and the population of the world at large. Evidence required for effective control and prevention of infectious diseases include those on disease etiology, diagnosis, prognosis, and cost and benefits of treatment and public health intervention. Infectious disease epidemiology is concerned with the methodology of scientific investigations for control and prevention of infectious diseases.

After completion of the course, the participants will be expected to:

Certificate on Epidemiology and Control of Infectious Diseases will be offered by the School of Public Health, the Chinese University of Hong Kong if the participant fulfills the course requirements.
|

|
English will be used as the language for instruction. |

Assessment will be in the form of attendance, exercises and written examination. Participants fulfilling the assessment requirements will be awarded the Certificate on Epidemiology and Control of Infectious Diseases. The requirements are (a) over 80% attendance, and (b) pass in the exercise and the examination. |

Applications should have a graduate qualification in a health-related discipline from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor's degree, and preferably have at least two years working experience in a health-related setting.
