Rationale
  The global impacts of new and reemerging infectious disease outbreaks such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), avian influenza, Japanese encephalopathy, hemorrhagic fever, infections of West Nile virus, hantavirus, etc have posed new challenges in local public health and clinical sectors. New variants and resistant strains of infectious diseases have also emerged and complicate the local situations.

 This course is designed to equip health professionals on updated concepts and techniques in public health measures for common viral infections and its control.

  • Viral respiratory tract infections
  • Dengue, Japanese Encephalitis and other vector borne viral infections

  • Norovirus and other diarrhea-associated Viruses
  • Viral infections during pregnancy affecting fetus and newborn

Assessment
  Assessment will be in the form of attendance, case studies and written examination. Participants who fulfill the assessment requirements will obtain the Certificate on Common Viral Infections. The requirements include a) over 80% attendance and (b) pass the exercises and the examination.

Entry Requirements
  Applicants should have a graduate qualification in a health-related discipline from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor¡¦s degree, and preferably have at least two years working experience in a health-related setting.
