Rationale
  The impacts of AIDS, SARS, and avian influenza have shown the importance of infectious agents of animal origin to human health. Veterinary epidemiology, surveillance and control of zoonoses are pertinent aspects for effective control and prevention of emerging infections in human population.

    • Zoonotic diseases and factors determining emergence of infectious diseases
    • Veterinary Epidemiology, public health, and modelling of disease transmission
    • Food safety and agents of bioterrism and biodefence

     Certificate on Animal Diseases Affecting Humans will be offered by the School of Public Health under the Faculty of Medicine, if the participant fulfills the course requirements. The certificate will be jointly issued by the Royal Veterinary College of the University of London, United Kingdom.

    Assessment
     Assessment will be in the form of attendance, exercises and written examination. Participants fulfilling the assessment requirements will be awarded the Certificate on Animal Diseases Affecting Humans. The requirements are (a) over 80% attendance, and (b) pass in the exercise and the examination.

    Entry Requirements
     

    Applicants should have a graduate qualification in a health-related discipline from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor¡¦s degree, and preferably have at least two years working experience in a health-related setting.
