After graduation, he has been working in various areas in public health in the Department of Health including the Elderly Health Services, former Regional Health Service, and Surveillance and Epidemiology Branch of the Centre of Health Protection. He was involved in controlling outbreaks of infectious diseases including Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2003. He currently works as Senior Medical Officer in Centre for Health Protection and is responsible for surveillance of enteric and vector borne diseases, as well as development of various surveillance systems. He was award the gold and bronze medal prize for Best Oral Presentation for Trainee in 2005 and 2007 respectively, organized by the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.

His main research areas are epidemiology of emerging infectious diseases such as SARS, avian influenza and Streptococcus suis. He has conducted various field studies in outbreak control of infectious diseases. He is also interested in setting up, implementing and evaluating surveillance systems of communicable diseases including syndromic surveillance.
